Editorial Board and Review Regulations

Applied from Revised Volume 26, No. 1

1. Composition of the editorial board

  • 1) The editorial board consists of the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor-in-Chief, and editorial board members appointed by the President of the KSECE.
  • 2) The editorial board participates in all aspects related to the publication of the journal, such as assigning reviewers, confirming and notifying the results of review, and confirming the revision of manuscripts.
  • 3) The term of the editorial board member is two years and the member can be reappointed.

2. Review process

  • 1) The entire process of screening for the 「International Journal of Early Childhood Education」 is conducted by the Korea Research Foundation's online thesis submission and review system (JAMS).
  • 2) The editorial committee member recommends experts in the field as reviewers for submitted manuscripts, and in principle, the experts should have a doctoral degree in the field.
  • 3) The editorial director considers the reviewers recommended by editorial committee members and then selects the three primary reviewers (including one overseas reviewer) per paper. (However, manuscripts that were orally presented or that were awarded poster excellence at the KSECE conference within the last one year are selected by two primary reviewers, instead of 3 reviewer.
  • 4) Thesis review
    • (1) The reviewer judges the submitted manuscript based on the following criteria.
      • ⋅ Clarity of research issues and topics
      • ⋅ Ingenuity of research
      • ⋅ Accuracy and faithfulness of related literature and data analysis
      • ⋅ Relevance of research method and appropriateness of logic development
      • ⋅ The potential contribution to Korean early childhood academic education and practical fields
      • ⋅ Compliance with research ethics
    • (2) The primary reviewer will judge one of "publishable," "publishable after revision," "reconsideration after revision," or "not publishable" according to the review criteria, and the reasons for the judgment shall be described in detail and submitted to the editorial committee.
    • (3) Based on the review results of the 3 reviewers, the editorial committee issues the first general review as one of "publishable," "publishable after revision," "reconsideration after revision," and "not publishable." The criteria for general review are as follows.
      • ⋅ If the manuscript presented at the KSECE conference is submitted within one year of the announcement date, one of three primary reviewers is exempted, and the exempted reviewer's results are "published after revision."
      • ⋅ Manuscripts that have been judged to be "publishable after revision" in the first general review are temporarily considered as "publishable" under the condition that the requested corrections are faithfully fulfilled, and manuscripts that have been judged "reconsideration after revision" must undergo a second review.
